The Rosart Project

The Rosart Project is a typeface revival that digitizes the work of Jacques-François Rosart, an 18th-century punchcutter who worked in Haarlem and Brussels. It grew out of a type design course at the Plantin Institute of Typography in Antwerp and was carried forward by three of its alumni — Walda Verbaenen, Michel Paré, and Lukas Schneider — working from Rosart's original punches, matrices, and printed specimens.

The resulting fonts span text and display styles, decorative capitals, and ornaments, which the project describes as the largest collection of revivals based on the work of a single punchcutter. The site documents the research and design decisions in depth; the fonts themselves are licensed rather than offered free.
